Fetal Wellbeing (24-42 Weeks)

This scan is performed in the range of 24-42 weeks and provides a comprehensive assessment of the baby’s overall development and growth.

The placenta and the volume of fluid around the baby will be checked. Also assessed is the blood flow through the cord. Measurements taken include that of the baby’s head, abdomen and femur and calculations are made to ensure correct development.

In addition to this an estimate of foetal weight is made. If any problems are detected, the sonographer would liaise with your obstetrician and midwife. 2D images are supplied as black and white photographs.
