Life Stage Screening - Career/Family Woman

This screening package is best for you if...
You may have found your soul mate or you may be pursuing a successful career, or both. You could be 20 or 40. The important things in your life could be your partner, children and/or home. You may have chosen to delay having children and this brings its own set of difficulties such as fertility issues or life as an older mum. Periods can still be a problem for a variety of reasons.

Including standard bloods, anaemia, diabetes, liver, kidney function and cholesterol
  • Urine screen

  • Breast consultation and examination
Discussion of breast problems and concerns including examination and advice on how to be breast aware
  • Gynaecology assessment
Discussion of gynaecology problems and concerns including period problems, contraception or sexually transmitted infections
  • Cervical assessment

Optional tests
In addition to your screening, your health assessment nurse may recommend for you to have one or more of the following tests. Your nurse will discuss this with you during your assessment.

  • Chlamydia testing £25
Chlamydia is the most common and fastest spreading sexually transmitted infection in the UK. Symptoms can include vaginal discharge, discomfort when passing urine or pain during sexual intercourse; however there are often no symptoms.
  • HPV testing £80 and vaccination £110 (per vaccine; course of 3)
Contracting Human Papilloma Virus is almost a normal consequence of being sexually active. There are over 100 different types of the virus and of the 4 types we test for, 2 may lead to genital warts and 2 may lead to cervical cancer. Having the test helps to determine the recommended frequency of future cervical smears.
  • Varicella immunity £30
This blood test checks whether you have immunity to chicken pox. Contracting the infection during pregnancy and without immunity may cause foetal and maternal problems. Most women do remember if they had chicken pox during childhood, but if not this is a useful preconception test.
  • Pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound £110 - £150
This scan can determine the cause of a wide variety of gynaecological problems, including endometriosis and polycystic ovaries.
  • Ovarian ageing screen (ARC, AMH) £250
A blood test and an ultrasound scan of the ovaries can determine the number and quality of eggs left in the ovaries. This is useful for predicting likelihood of conceiving especially when women delay childbearing. (link)

Results and Action Plan
