Life Stage Screening - Moving On/Grown Family

This screening package is best for you if...
You have or not raised a family and this stage of your life could be about contentment. You now have the maturity and wisdom that experience brings. You could be 35 or 50 with your family all grown up, or you may have chosen not to have children. Periods can become troublesome, maybe heavy, painful or irregular in the years leading towards menopause. Choosing the right contraception is still important throughout this time.

Including blood pressure, height, weight, BMI, body fat and waist:hip ratio.

Optional tests
In addition to your screening, your health assessment nurse may recommend for you to have one or more of the following tests. Your nurse will discuss this with you during your assessment.

  • Thyroid Function tests
Although this test would not usually be undertaken until 50’s it is useful to check thyroid function if symptoms such as fatigue and unexplained weight gain occur
  • Menopause Blood test £45
Checking the hormone levels to determine whether menopause has occurred or is imminent helps a woman to plan what if any action she wishes to take.
  • Pelvic and Transvaginal ultrasound £110
This scan can determine the cause of a wide variety of gynaecological problems leading up to menopause. For women who have an increased risk of developing ovarian cancer this test can be undertaken with the blood test Ca 125.
  • Ovarian ageing screen (AFC, AMH) £250
This is a combined blood test and ultrasound scan of the ovaries. Ovarian screening can determine the number and quality of eggs left in the ovaries. This is useful for predicting likelihood of conceiving especially when you delay childbearing

Results and Action Plan

Your nurse will discuss any immediate results and plan of action with you on the day of your appointment. After your assessment your investigations will be sent for analysis and returned to you within seven working days. Your nurse will review your results and present them in an easy to understand guide. Within this guide there will also be a personalised action plan giving recommendations on how to minimise future health risks.
