Life Stage Screening

About SMS women’s screening packages
Unlike most screening packages based around age, SMS believe a woman’s lifestage is more important when determining what health issues you might face. So whether you are 18 or 80 we have a suitable screening package, uniquely tailored to suit your needs.

Which SMS screening package should you select?
SMS has four screening packages each with a different set of screening tests based around your lifestage. Simply read through the following statements and click on the lifestage most applicable to you.

Not sure?
Don’t worry if you are unsure, simply click on the link below and one of our female health screening nurses will get back to you. Alternatively please call 0845 290 3244.

Young, Free & Single

You are unattached or in a short-term relationship with no commitments. You could be 18 or maybe 28. Life is about doing the things that you enjoy most, such as shopping, socialising with friends or going to pubs and clubs. It is easy to forget, or ignore, the impact this has on your health. Contraception, sexually transmitted diseases and period problems are common issues for women in this life stage.

Career/Family Women

You have found your soul mate or pursuing a successful career, or both. You could be 20 or 40. The important things in your life could be your partner, children and/or home. You may have chosen to delay having children and this brings its own set of difficulties such as fertility issues or life as an older mum. Periods can still be a problem for a variety of reasons.

Moving On/Grown Family

You may or may not have raised a family. This stage of your life could be about contentment or turbulence. You now have the maturity and wisdom that experience brings. You could be 35 or 50 with your family all grown up, or you may have chosen not to have children. Periods can become troublesome, maybe heavy, painful or irregular in the years leading towards menopause. Choosing the right contraception is still important throughout this time.

Menopause & Beyond

Whilst menopause is an event in a woman’s body calendar, it doesn’t have to be a medical event nor is it an end point. Menopause can happen quite naturally as early as 40 and is not an illness; indeed in some cultures it is celebrated. It does have various short and long-term consequences and adapting can be challenging. Women who take more care of themselves throughout their menopause may reduce the risk of ill health in later life.
